CLEMENT OF ALEXANDRIA · STROMATA (BOOK VI)
The Procession of the 42 Books of Thoth-Hermes
In the late second and early third century CE, church father Clement of Alexandria documented how the Egyptian priesthood carried the sacred library of Hermes-Thoth through temple courtyards, maintaining universal order (Ma'at):
- The Singer (2 Books): One book of hymns to the gods, and one book on the life and duties of the King.
- The Horoscopus / Astrologer (4 Books): The fixed star catalogues, planetary conjunctions, phases of the Sun and Moon, and their rising times.
- The Hierogrammat / Sacred Scribe (10 Books): Hieroglyphics (Mdw-Nṯr), cosmography, geography of Egypt and the Nile, temple furniture, and land allotments.
- The Stolistes & Prophet (26 Books): Ten books regarding sacrificial training and ritual purity, ten sacerdotal laws governing temple revenues, and six Pastophoroi medical treatises (anatomy, pathology, surgery, ophthalmology, and pharmacology).
The Subterranean Vaults & Hieroglyphic Concealment
The Egyptian hierophants operated under an unbroken vow: secret knowledge is the supreme basis of authority. By encrypting astronomical cycles, mathematics, and mental laws within three distinct scripts (Hieroglyphic, Hieratic, and Demotic), only initiated elites possessed the decoder ring. The profane masses perceived the gods as animal-headed statues; the initiated priests understood them as mathematical and metaphysical laws of nature.
"The uninitiated public was left to navigate life as passive effects, while initiated elites operated as conscious causers behind the scenes."
INITIATION OF WORLD SAGES
Egypt as the University of the Ancient World
Historical, biblical, and classical archives concur: Egypt was the intellectual and spiritual fountainhead of the Mediterranean world:
- Joseph (Genesis 41:45): Elevated to Vizier over Egypt, given the Egyptian name Zaphnath-paaneah ("Revealer of Secrets"), and given Asenath, daughter of Potipherah priest of On (Heliopolis), to wife.
- Moses (Acts 7:22): "Learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds." Initiated as a prince of the royal house and architect.
- Pythagoras of Samos: Spent 22 years in the temples of Memphis, Thebes, and Heliopolis studying sacred geometry and the transmigration of the soul.
- Plato & Solon: Received the account of Atlantis and primordial geology from the priests of Saïs.
Egyptian temple corridors were engineered with pinpoint precision to receive the first rising ray of Sirius (the Dog Star / Blazing Star, 35 times brighter than our sun) directly onto the sanctuary altar—a stellar science preserved in Masonic lodge halls.
